I got married!

I have been quiet for a little while of late because I have been contemplating my wedding which occurred on the 23rd of January, a Thursday afternoon affair.

We had a wonderful day that was so fuss free we enjoyed every single moment of it. Our marriage celebrant was sensational. She put us and our families totally at ease and kept the whole ceremony a very happy and joyous occasion.

It was even worth wearing a dress and high heels for the first time in years ๐Ÿ˜€ Though the high heels came off as soon as we finished our high tea at the little top notch restaurant Print Hall we went to after the ceremony. I had cleverlyย hidden some stylish red flats in our camera case and they felt wonderful to wear and walk about a kilometre back to our hotel in.

Jason and I had been engaged for 14-15 years.ย I procrastinated a lot about getting married. Maybe because I’d been married once before and that hadn’t worked out. I told myself I was happy with the status quo even though Jason kept hankering at me to get married. Whatever the reasons I had, I finally came to the point where I realised I never wanted to be away or separated from Jason as he’s my best friend, lover, step-father to my two grown up girls and an all round perfect gentleman for me ๐Ÿ˜€

This happy snap was taken by our marvellous wedding celebrant Jacqueline and she had us all wave at the camera which I thought was lovely. A most happy day, enjoyed by all ๐Ÿ˜€

These are the two sides of our Riesling high tea menu. It was fabulous to have a matching wine chosen for me for each stage of the high tea. I had the Pewsey Vale ‘Contours’ 2007, Eden Valley as my dry Riesling that went oh so beautifully with the Goats curd level.

I had the Tunkalilla Vineyard 2008 Oregon as my off dry Riesling which married beautifully with the confit of white rabbit and rhubarb level.

The sweet Riesling I choseย  was the Mount Horrocks “Cordon Cut” 375ml 2013, Clare Valley and that washed down well the little lemon meringue tarts and especially the gorgonzola and native honey, absolutely divine!

I sound like Patsy from Ab Fab there but I could’ve drunk that last wine all afternoon ๐Ÿ˜€

All in all, a wonderful afternoon that didn’t cost the farm, hit all the happy spots in service and family joy and that could only have been improved by having my sister and brother and nieces and nephew come over from Tasmania and Denmark to join in. Loved it all ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for sharing our special day.

  1. Fantastic day by the looks of it. So lovely to do it just how you wanted to. Amazing menu! Where is that?
I recently attended my nieces wedding and purchased a very modest high heel for the occasion. They felt fantastic in the store, but I just could not walk in them at the service! Granted I did have to walk over grass, so I took them off then but even on the path it was just too hard… oh well flats it is for me lol.

    1. I agree Kym . My little toes spontaneously bled from the high heels and needed bandaging for a couple of days after! Print Hall is in that new restaurant precinct at Brookfield Place at 125 St George’s Terrace almost directly below the Perth registry building, ?Westralia Square?? Very nice and requires smart casual clothing. The three tiered high tea servers were gorgeous. Each of the levels was matched for your palate by a wonderful sommelier. We will go back there for our anniversary for as long as it’s open ๐Ÿ˜€ . Check out my likes page on Facebook as they’re on there.

  2. Yeah I had to keep quiet too Wendy! Not easy when you have a mouth as big as mine ;). CONGRATULATIONS YOU TWO! ๐Ÿ™‚ I know I have said it on FB but here it is on your proper blog that is all yours. I am made up as Steve’s mum would say. “Proper Liverpudlian made up” :). You guys were perfect for each other from the start. I know you had a few problems working through past relationships etc. (we all do) but Jason was truly meant for you, always was, from the day that the kids came back to the flat saying “mum…the guy that just moved in has only got one chair!” (our kids were quintessential nosy buggers but this time, it was to Cathy’s advantage ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) and so many little situations that kept pushing you closer and closer together. When something is meant to be there is precious little stalling you can do to stop it :). You were able to stall for a good while though I grant you! SO glad you decided to put on that wetsuit and become “Mrs Seal”. I bet Jason is “made up” as well :). Love you and SO wish I could have been there. I would have beamed so brightly with joy for you that the photographer would have had to get me to stand outside the room just so that she could get a shot :).

    1. Awwwww thanks dear Fronkiii ๐Ÿ™‚ . Isn’t it strange how sometimes we run so hard away from what is right for us? I’m so glad/grateful that Jason saw something worth holding onto in me, I still have a hard time believing it but I’m more sure than I’ve ever been about marriage to this wonderful man. We will be coming over at some point later in the year once all this outside renovation stuff is finished for a belated honeymoon so we will have a shandy or two with you and Steve then ๐Ÿ˜€ Love you xoxoxoxoxoxox

      1. At least the deck is worth sitting on now ;). The dogs are getting better as well…they only jumped a couple of times on Kym and hardly at all on Bruce (but he IS 6ft 3 or so ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). You and Jason were made for each other. You fit amazingly well. I love how you both navigate the space around each other without having to bulldoze through each others space. I get plenty of space here. Whenever I feel the need to “bulldoze” Steve buggers off somewhere. Hard to find someone to bulldoze when they are hiding with the chooks on 4 acres! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. What a beautiful day to enjoy with the ones you love. Congratulations go to Jason for finally getting you to ‘seal the deal’ and to you for playing ‘hard to get’ for as long as you did. LOL
I’m glad you are happy and wish you many years of wedded bliss.

    1. It was a delight to have each tier of goodies matched for me and any others that wanted them chosen to suit their tastes. I have a few nice Rieslings now to source from the local wine sellers ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. Omg I am so happy to hear you got married, I loved reading your postโ€ฆengaged for 15 years and now finally married, wow! You both look great. I wish you a happy marriage and the best of times. I’m sure it will work out this time, after all you’ve been together for 15 happy years. I am so happy for you. Best wishes!
